Air Seed of Air: Supernal Nurturer

8.17.10

“Air seed of air is Jacob’s two-way ladder, from above to below, to above.” Dr. John Munford, “Magical Tattwas”.

This is the part of the alchemical process that one stands alone on the mountain of decision ,and stretches in two directions with the wind in your face of the present.

For me, it is a time for seeing so much potential that has been created, but knowing the fruit is not quite ripe. When I was learning how to harvest dried flowers, I found each one was different.

The straw flowers had to be cut before they opened, whereas the golden yarrow had to be cut after it not only opened, but after it opened completely.

One needs to feel the stem and learn when it has become slightly woody, then cut and bundle to dry. If cut too soon the yarrow will fold in and no color shows. If the straw flower is cut too late it will turn inside out and fall apart.

Air seed of air is when you feel the air but must wait till you feel both nostrils clear. Hasty decisions, done by the push of delivery, is not good at this time.

Today I move slowly, but deliberately, waiting for the signal in both directions. We have worked inside a body of work now for 20 years, and the stage we now are in is the focus on the head.

We must breathe with the contractions, but not force the head. It has its own timing, and its own presentation.

We must look at its beginning, and know it is right.

We must look at it now, and know it is right.

This stretch enables it to step into the future just right, and be completely what it is.

Tracing a surface of this time with the hand of my mind, I feel the power of this new pattern to be the wholeness of this stretch.

Air seed of air, a day with no goal outside of itself.

  1. Beautifully expressed! I find this time incredibly challenging -- to hold steady and be still enough to hear when the timing of something is exactly right while being pushed so hard (especially emotionally) to move it before it's 100% aligned & ready. And you're right, every situation (just like the flowers for drying) has its own individualized & exact timing -- so you can't apply any standard "rules". As you have described & achieved so amazingly in your life, one has to become so patient & so sensitive to develop this exquisite awareness to tell the difference between when something is 99.9% there from when it is 100% there. Not an easy task!

  2. "Air seed of air is when you feel the air but must wait till you feel both nostrils clear."....what a fantastic description of patience! I can appreciate this so much in these crones years we have passed into, that things really do have a timing as do the stems and the flower petals. Understanding this makes me feel at ease with my pace I now am comfortable with in all manner of living these days........bless you again for precious insight!

  3. Suzanne, wonderful insight, adding to my blog, and expanding its integration into your life and feelings.

We've worked a long time with this concept, of waiting till completion, and it is not an easy task. You do it every day in your work, in your cooking, and nurturing of our home.

  4. Sandra, thank you. What I was surprised about was the focus on the head, that came while writing. It is a clue to where we are in the cycle of the work.

The head is crowning. The flowers that I spoke of were the crowns, and Norie wants to give me the crowns of the cone flowers. No wonder I needed you to do a cranial on my head.

Thank you so much. And yes it does describe the patience needed in the crone years. I hadn't thought of that. It is so fun when you all expand on the blog. So much more is then to be had.
